Team Cleary Hosts Food Drive March 1st thru 31st Benefiting Mid-Ohio Food Bank
Do you know where your next meal is coming from?
According to Mid-Ohio Food Bank’s website, one in five Ohioans is food insecure. During the uncertainty of the pandemic many more families must choose between paying for housing or medical expenses and putting food on their table. Food insecurity can happen to anyone. It could be your coworker, friend or neighbor.
Since 2012 our Team has collected food and funds for those in our community who need a helping hand. This year, we are again partnering up with Mid-Ohio Foodbank and hosting a food drive at our office and design studio March 1st – 31st. Donations can be dropped off during business hours Mon-Fr 8am to 5pm. Or you can use this link to donate online!
Even without the ability to host an event to promote it, last year we collected enough donations for 750 meals. Help us double that for 2021 with a goal of 1,500 meals! For every $1 donated MOFB can distribute 4.5 meals or $9.50 worth of groceries and every pound of food donated is equal to 1 meal.
Mid-Ohio Food Bank Stats & Facts:
Clients dropping off donations March 2020
Over 66 million pound of food was distributed last year
More than 600,000 individuals receive emergency food assistance each year
50% of customer households have at least one working adult
We can all #BeBetter and help out in some way this holiday season. For some of us, we will round up our total at the grocery store, drop a few dollars in a collection jar or take food to a local pantry. Even the smallest gestures help those in need and here at The Cleary Company we have chosen to support the YWCA.
Cold winter weather will soon be upon us all in Central Ohio. Join Our Team in collecting new winter blankets for homeless families at the YWCA Family Center! Pre-pandemic, the Dispatch ran an article on February 8, 2020, Columbus Families Struggle to Overcome Homelessness. The article states, that “instead of decreasing along with the growing local economy, family homelessness in Columbus OH went up by 20% from 2010 to 2019”. In fact, according to the latest OHFA’s “Revisiting the Silent Crisis” report, young children are among the fastest growing segments of Ohio’s homeless population. Nearly 30 percent of all the individuals accessing homeless services were minors. This includes 2,943 infants under age 1, an increase of 53 percent since 2012.
With several sectors of our economy in Columbus still feeling the impact of restrictions on capacity, loss of customer traffic, layoffs and even closures, the number of homeless families are continuing to grow even more. We all know winters in Ohio can be brutal, but thankfully there are several social service options, like the YWCA Family Center, offering emergency, short term and even long-term support to the most vulnerable families in our Central Ohio.
With all that in mind, we are hoping you will help us as we help with homeless.
Give the gift of warmth!
We can all help support those hit hardest by the economic effects of the pandemic.
The YWCA Family Center’s has made donating easy with an Amazon Wish List! Ordering online and shipping your donation directly to the center is easy and the safest option for all.

The Cleary Company again will be hosting a collection for Volunteers of America’s Operation Backpack and in 2020 we’re partnering with our friends at Frog Hauling. We want to fill a dumpster FULL with backpacks and school supplies! Since 2015 our Team has been committed to giving kids in our community much needed school supplies. Let’s join together to help every child start their school year ready to chase their dreams and take on the world!
Why should you support Operation Backpack?
Did you know there are many families in our local communities who struggle meeting basic needs and can’t afford a backpack and/or school supplies for their children? It’s last on the list when they don’t have resources to meet expenses like food, utilities, mortgages or rent and so on. On average, school fees and supplies costs from $696 to $1,300 per child. When you can give a backpack and school supplies, you are helping children AND their parents who are working hard to make ends meet. You’re giving hope to the entire family!
Our Team had so much fun last year stuffing 25 backpacks so in 2020 our goal is to double that! We’re not competitive though, right? We welcome all our clients, friends, vendors, suppliers and trade partners to join us in helping to meet our ambitious goal. If you have supplies ready, you can drop them off at our office located at 989A Old Henderson Rd, 43220. To make sure we can get all of the backpacks and supplies to Volunteers of America office in time for distribution to the children, please drop off by August 12th!

My first Pelotonia was 11 years ago and it’s been, without a doubt, the BEST 2 days of my year, every year. It is the most enthusiastic, positive experience that I have ever been part of. My brother-in-law, Chip Greenlee, encouraged me to join him and for several years we both rode with Stephanie Spielman’s Team of Hope Peloton. Chip and his wife, Sara, were great friends of Stephanie and her husband, Chris. The loss of such a strong-willed cancer survivor and friend encouraged Chip to do his part and he encouraged me to do the same.
Little did we know back then the impact of Chip’s ask, because today he’s fighting terminal Glioblastoma brain cancer and in the last 11 years, I have had many of my friends (Tim, Adam, Sheila, Rick, just to name a few), as well as my mom, die from cancer. Betty, my mom, lost her battle with Leukemia in 2013 and that is when I kicked up my game to begin riding the 2-day 180-200 mile event. I wanted to show her that I could do more by grinding through a second day even though I’m tired and don’t want to get back on that little bike seat.

We all have optimism and hope to finding better treatments and ultimately a cure! A lot of that enthusiasm is due to the leadership efforts and hard work of the Pelotonia staff but also so many more – the dedication of doctors, researchers, interns, volunteers, and those that grind out 25-200 miles every August for the journey to One Goal – kicking cancer’s ass.
Cancer survivors & their family members line the routes each year to thank and encourage riders
I get goosebumps thinking of the supporters, both financially and spiritually. I will see survivors in the country with masks on, no hair in wheelchairs at the end of their driveway ringing a cowbell to encourage each rider to “keep on pedaling”, or every year the guy holding his sign “thanks for saving my wife”.
Come on folks, I can’t make this stuff up, it fuels your legs and you keep on pedaling. Join me in this amazing positivity! There are too many neighbors, co-workers, friends, classmates and even beloved family members (Todd, Jeff, Kathleen, Chip, just to name a few) fighting their own personal journey with cancer. I am so fortunate and blessed to be healthy and I am driven to make a difference. Will you join me? I hope so!
P.S. In 2020, I made the decision to start my own Peloton, Team Cleary Cyclers! Click here to join me on Team Cleary Cyclers or find out how you can help support Pelotonia’s mission.

Join Our Team & Volunteers of America Ohio-Indiana to help homeless and at-risk kids go back to school with confidence. What is Operation Backpack?
Through Operation Backpack®, Volunteers of America collects and distributes brand new backpacks filled with school supplies to homeless and at-risk children throughout Ohio and Indiana. A filled backpack relieves struggling parents of a financial burden and provides a sense of normalcy to the otherwise chaotic lives of these children, helping them to look and feel more like their classmates.
Many families in need can’t afford a backpack and school supplies for their children. These children, who live in poverty or are homeless, face many challenges and tremendous stigmatization – as a result, less than 25% graduate from high school. Most importantly, a filled backpack allows children to start the school year feeling prepared and confident, with the knowledge that their education is important and that someone believes in them.
Our Team had so much fun last year stuffing 13 backpacks that we are once again collecting supplies. Our goal this year is to fill 20 backpacks (not that we’re competitive)! We welcome all our client, friends, vendors, suppliers and trade partners to join us and helping us to meet our goal. If you have supplies ready, you can drop them off at office located at 989A Old Henderson Rd, 43220. To make sure we can get the backpacks and supplies to VoA in time for distribution to the children, please drop off by August 23rd.
